Christian Formation

St. Mary Magdalene’s Christian Formation Program continues the mission of Jesus Christ through catechetical ministry. It embraces the young members of our parish by providing an inclusive program that responds to the spiritual, intellectual, social and psychological needs of our youth. The Christian Formation Program assists parents in forming their children to be Disciples of Christ through bi-weekly classes and sacramental preparation. We rely on volunteer catechists to accompany our youth on their journey of faith and to nurture their personal relationship with Jesus. Children are placed in classes by their grade and age.  We offer classes for students in K5 through grade 11 and High school Confirmation and Introductory classes for grades 2 – 11.

What’s happening in Christian Formation…

Lenten Greetings from the Office of Christian Formation!

First Communion news:
Upcoming First Communion/Reconciliation Prep sessions:
Saturday, March 5 or Wednesday, March 16– Parents and children attend.

This month (March) our focus is on Unit 7 – the Kingdom of God.
In this unit, we learn that the Church teaches that everyone is called to the Kingdom of God on Earth and in Heaven. We prepare for eternal life by accepting God’s grace, growing in his friendship, and serving him and one another right now.  Jesus gave us an example of how we can follow him:  forgiving others, treating others with respect, and helping those who are hungry and in need.  By our Baptism, we are called to do this, to continue the mission of the Church. That is why in the Mass, after receiving the Eucharist, which nourishes us to do the work Christ calls us to, we are sent out to proclaim the Good News. This is evangelization—giving witness to the faith by proclaiming the Good News of Jesus through our words and deeds in a way that invites people to accept the Gospel.

Family + Faith pages are provided at the end of each chapter of the children’s Alive in Christ books.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta, also known as Mother Teresa, is the Person of Faith this month. Using the At Home with the Parent Pages, families can continue the exploration of who Mother Teresa was.  Visit our webpage at  for more detailed information.  You can also go to the publisher’s website at for additional material to use with your children this month.

Please continue to work with your child(ren) at home completing the chapters and working in their books. Be sure to complete the Chapter and Unit reviews.
