Preschool Director

Tell us a little about yourself and your family.

My husband, Tom, and I are originally from opposite ends of Pennsylvania and met while students at Penn State University, where I earned a degree in Special Education. After spending some time living in Florida and in Pittsburgh, PA, we moved to Greenville in 2001 and became parishioners at St. Mary Magdalene soon after that. We have four beautiful children who are the joys of our lives. Our daughter attended College of Charleston, our oldest son went to Clemson, number three is currently at USC and our youngest son will join him there next year, so we are truly a house divided! We love our SC schools but are hearts still belong to Penn State!

Tell us a little about your role at St. Mary Magdalene.

I have been working at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Preschool since 2004 when our youngest boys were here.  Over the years, I have taught K3, K4, and Transitional K5, before taking on the role of Director in 2015.  The decision to leave the classroom was a difficult one, but I have enjoyed every minute in my current job.  As director, I am responsible for maintaining all aspects of the preschool, including annual budgets, staffing, safety and communication. However, my favorite responsibility is “Door Holder.” Greeting the children and seeing their joy as they come to school each day to learn and grow in their faith is the highlight of my job!

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

In the warmer months, I enjoy biking, hiking, swimming in my pool, and burying my toes in the sand at a beach somewhere.  During the winter, I am perfectly content to read, relax, and spend time with my family in front of a cozy fire.
