SCRIPTURAL COUPONS

Clergy Corner by Fr. Robert Falabella

Our present day way of life finds a commercial phenomenon -- Offering of Coupons -- an opportunity for financial benefit as well as calling our attention to what can be of benefit for us or our  family.

One finds many places in Holy Scripture where what is presented to us are like “Scriptural Coupons” but with benefits that transcend time for ourselves and families -- and these “coupons,” unlike material ones -- never run out of being re-used over and over again.

Some examples of these Scriptural Coupons we can use for ourselves and our loved ones:

Jesus declared: “I am the way, the truth and the life.” The godless world offers many ways and what they fabricate as truth actually denigrate LIFE -- all of which ends with the grave and opens up an eternity of being in the company of losers.

“He will answer them: Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me. And these will go off to eternal punishment but the righteous to eternal life” (Matthew 25:43-45). The former did not use the ‘Scriptural coupons’!

Applying this ‘Scriptural coupon’ daily in our everyday life assures us that our ultimate destiny which is eternity will be one of joy and not regret. And the more we make use of this ‘Scriptural coupon’ by living ever closer to Jesus in our everyday lives, the closer we will come to an eternal benefit of happiness and self-fulfillment.

Another Scriptural coupon: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you. I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am, you also may be…(John 14 1,3) “I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete” (John 15:11).

I pray you will use and, memorize these ‘Scriptural coupons’ and submit them for redemption in your daily living.

And remember God has provided us with a Book of ever-redeemable Scriptural Coupons -- locate them as well; the more you submit them, the more radiant you will be prepared when you meet HIM.
